    Certificate of Occupancies issued after August 9, 2019 are publicly available on the Austin Build + Connect (AB+C) Portal's Public Search.

    1. Search for the property address
    2. Find the related Plan Review folder
    3. The CO will be included in attachments

    Since the building was built or use changed since March 1, 1986, the property is not eligible for an Amnesty Certificate of Occupancy.

    To apply for a new CO, you can proceed with a New Construction and Addition permit application by clicking NEXT.

    • For checking up to 6 properties for a CO:
      • Email: DSDCertificateofOccupancy@austintexas.gov
      • Include the address(es) and unit number(s) as applicable.
      • Please allow 1-5 business days.


    • For checking 7 or more properties for a CO with a Public Information Request:
      • email Public.Information@austintexas.gov
      • Include the address(es) and unit number(s) as applicable.
      • Under the Public Information Act, governmental entities have 10 business days to provide responsive information.
